Donald UGB Expansion - Another saga in Pro-development blindness!
In 2008, The City of Donald has submitted to Marion County Planning Department an application to expand the city’s Urban Growth Boundary via the incorporation of four pieces of property totaling 42.5 acres. The inclusion of a 29 acre piece of EFU land in active ag prompted testimony against application before the County Commissioners. Though it went through an appeal process, the application has now been approved, demonstrating the pro-development mindset of the current Marion County Commissioners, the entitlement mindset of the City of Donald, and the willful decision to ignore the residents and businesses most impacted by a commercial development of this sort. Once again a significant land use decision has been made by our County Commissioners which demonstrates the interests of the few over the many, and whose process makes one wonder “what ever happened to representative government?” Click here to read the rest of this article.
